John Mellencamp is notorious about hiring people who have little to no experience in any particular field. His guitar tech told me (who used to be a gardener) says that John goes by his gut feeling. With that in mind, in 2008, John approached my dad who’s niche is photography about making a film about his baseball field tour alongside Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.  While shooting the tour, John would also be recording his new album No Better Than This along the way in historic spots around the country.  John didn’t want a big film crew, so it was just up to my dad and me to film it.  The tour took a little over 6 weeks to film and 12,000 miles added to our rented minivan which followed the tour bus. We were told in the beginning that we would have our own editor to go through our whole mess.  That responsibility ultimately was given to us. Almost two years of shooting, viewing and editing culminated into the film, It’s About You.

After the release of Its About You, my dad and I were hired to do a shoot for Salt Optics. My dad would go back to becoming a photographer and I would film the models.  As my father finished shooting a model, the model would walk off his set and right on to mine.  I would film the model walk from camera right to camera left as I would talk to them. After working on this shoot, I felt comfortable enough to move to Seattle to become a freelance videographer.

Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels is a film that I believe has a truly badass intro song. With a newly acquired skill in After Effects, I designed the graphics of the fictional film production companies for the intro to the movie. Given this is one of my all-time favorite films, this was particularly fun and rewarding.
